Good point well made, surely you can get a certain substance to rub on a scuff sheet to stop hotspot showing up.

Wasn't there a big hoo-ha about Vaseline down the edge of players bats a few years ago?

India v England series, some reports never proved some of the Indian players used Vaseline to stop hotspot showing up on tiny nicks behind.

Never proved and probably a load of rubbish started by Michael Vaughan!!! :)

I couldn't help notice that the old rule was the stickers could cover no more than 50% of the edges. Maybe the reason why all the manufacturers went for massive edges in recent years was to maximise advertising space?

A bit of infrared reflective tape on the edges and you're sorted?

I suppose this only effects top level players, the bats us guys get will still have the branding on the edges as there's no need to changing to satisfy a hand full of players?

Only on the Pro's bat I would imagine. Can't see SS moving their logo as it would mean changing the machine they use to burn in the branding as the edges are thinner further up the bat, also they would be loosing valuable advertising if they were to use a smaller TON logo.

Well at least we will have a better way of knowing a bat is a genuine international's bat than sharpie writing on the toe...

The new ICC regs will explain why Root moved the GM DXM sticker up his bat then:

More importantly, why he taped over the area leading everyone to speculate he was covering TON stamps.

Probably pulled the sticker up and made a hash of it...

With the clamp down on clause 19.43 of the ICC's Clothing and Equipment Rules and Regulationon All of the County and International GM bats going forward will leave the factory like Joe's bat

I think he just needs to tape the middle up with all those runs he's scoring  ;)
