Slazenger grading
« on: September 22, 2015, 12:53:06 PM »

I'm about to get one of those ultra cheap slaz v1200 fusions that went around from a nice man wanting to get rid of one. I'm trying to look into them for any info at all. Found these:

http://www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-v1200-titan-cricket-bat-851030
"titan"? Fusion? Wtf does this mean? Anything? Do they even actually have a grading system or do they make randomly graded bats with random cool sounding words attached to them?

Just had a look on sports direct. Some bats are listed twice at a different price point (try working that one out)
Ignoring the pricing inconsistencies, from what I can't tell, the V1200 range is graded something like this:

Premier - Kashmir willow
Titan - painted back so lowest grade of English willow
G4 - grade 4 English willow
Hex - no reference to grade but assuming this is the one with the funky shaped handle
G3 - grade 3 English Willow
G2 - grade 2 English Willow
G1 - grade 1 English Willow
G1 plus - grade 1 English Willow again

Just looking at the v800 range.

G2 is 259 down to 120
G3 is 189- down to 80.
Fusion is 199.99 down to 56.99. But doesn't say what grade it is.

Fusion seems a bargain but a gamble on grade??

It's weird they don't have done sort of explanation of their system on the slazenger website
