Gunn and Moore opening up
« on: September 24, 2015, 01:37:19 PM »

Having just bought one of the £117 Octane's, just wondering peoples opinion on the brand?  I have heard on the forum that they sometimes take a while to open up?  The 'pre-knocked in' - how much knocking in is required afterwards?

Any other thoughts/knowledge about Gunn and Moore's from experience?

I just used mine straight out of the box.
you have all winter to knock it in and use it in the nets and it will be a gun by the start of next summer.

I've only had 2 GMs in my lifetime but you really can't go wrong. Also, from my understanding, the GM NOW really is pre-knocked in and ready to use straight away, not one of these 'you need to spend another 2 hours pre-knocked in jobs'. I'm sure someone more qualified on here could confirm this though!

Had plenty of gms.

Never knocked any in(not to the extremes of a regular bat) all pretty much usable from the packet.

But

2014 and earlier were a little hard and would take some netting to open up.

The 2015 octane, and the 3 others gms bought at my club this year, have not been hard. They have been good straight from the packet.
I believe they changed something in there pressing.

That sounds great.  Any opinions on the Octane in general from anyone.  Was considering sending it back/getting rid of it but starting to reconsider...!

My octane is a lovely bat, very happy with it. It to is an 808

Imo the best bat GM have made in a while, not super concaved! Big spine and swell in the correct area!

Obviously not used in that picture, I bought it as a net bat going on previous hard gms, but it was actually my match bat for first few months of the season.

A CBF member can never have too many bats, that's the golden rule. I'd happily take it off your hands but the misses will play hell with me (wasted money in her eyes plus its now the off season so it won't get used) :(
