Go out on field with a team member and pull out a roller. Both of you need to be on the 2 opposite sides of the roller and aim to throw the ball on the top surface of the roller. As the roller shape is round, the ball will come to you in a fashion how it comes to you at slips.

For the one which you dropped, ask your wicket keeper to position you at the first slip. He should be able to place you at the right place based on the bounce and carry of the wicket.

Overarm throwing at a batsman who angles it to the cordon is the best way.

Throw hard, because the new ball takes no prisoners. You should be able to get the ball to carry 15-20m from the bat.

Also, the most important aspect of slip catching is to remain relaxed and let the ball come to you. Catch close to your body, rather than having your hands out in front.
