As it says I think it depends on location, but also maybe things like age? I imagine younger players will find it more comfortable than seniors having a fair bit of weight on their backs.

As a younger player (21) I prefer wheelie bags for ease of organisation, I find with duffles that i'm having to pack them in a certain way to fit everything in, especially since my bat collection doubled this year. With a wheelie bag all I need to do is make sure my spikes aren't going to gouge my bats to death and i'm pretty much good to go.

If you are in London and using public transport, the simple reason is that duffle bags are just a lot easier to lump around, and walk from a tube station/bus stop to a cricket pitch, which can be a good 15 minute walk. Even more so if you are playing LMS and doing so in an evening rush hour!

@ItsJustCricket how would you rank the duffle bags currently on the market. Kook Players as number 1, followed by GN100?

For two seasons I got to all my games by motorcycle with my gear on my back and it's duffle or nothing. Since I've got a car it's quite small and I'm often transporting gf/gf's family/mates around over the weekend and a duffle can at a push be put on someone's lap or in the boot and still get shopping in. I see people with these huge coffin sized bags with two knockin in mallets, 5 bats, three changes of whites and think - why take that to every game?

Duffles have always been great for me, and modern ones have been a great update more organised than an equivalent price wheelie and much less hassle whatever form of transport you're using. My mega size wheelie bag has been sitting in the cupboard for a few seasons now.

Its always the guy who doesn't drive and wants a lift who rocks up with a great big coffin.

I sold my Kook Pro duffle recently. There are a few things I couldn't get on with.

At the top the four zips being the same colour as the piping. I lost count the amount of times I grabbed the wrong one. Oh the horror of it.

I found the side pockets would only be useful if you put pads in them otherwise they take up space at the bottom of the main compartment. So you had to open three compartments to get your batting kit. Those lost seconds I'll never get back.

It wouldn't take much to put too much weight in the top pocket so when the main compartment was opened it would pull the bag out of shape. No-one likes a droopy top.

And with it being so big I couldn't help putting so much stuff in it. I shouldn't blame the duffle for that but I do.

I've now got a Salix medium bag so I can sling it over my shoulder. I had a Aero stand-up bag and the thing was so square it would fall over while being pulled along. I'd never go back to a wheelie.

If Slaz were to make a few adjustments to their 360 duffle, I'd buy one.

I love my look pro duffle. But it isn't perfect

The side pockets I rarely put anything in, scorebook, handbook, sidearms etc, stuff long and thin that did need to encroach on middle.

When I remove the shoes it falls over, so I have to hang it up.

I agree on the top pocket, I always overloaded it then. Because it's hung up, I can't move the pocket out the way to get my bats out!

Still nothing I can't manage with and prefer it to any other bags I've had.

I got my first duffle years ago (round 2010) as my mum downsized her car and that all that fitted in her boot (back in the days she dropped me off at games).
It was a round kookaburra thing that had a shoe tunnle at the bottom and that was about it pocket wise. It cost a grand total of £20.

Fast forward to now, I've had a TON duffle, a Red Ink duffle and have a GN1000 on order.
I like the newer ones as they have pockets so I can make up some kind of OCD system of storage, enough space I don't have to fight my kit to fit it all in, but it comfortably fits in a car boot and wont take up half the dressing room.

I've noticed that its mostly the younger players in my club buying duffles, but the number is definitely growing as people are realizing it's easier to carry a bag than try and wheel one

With the tiny size of some of the change rooms I think having a duffle is almost essential just for a bit more comfortability. I've had the Gray Nics players duffle for a couple of years only issue is I can't seem to organise it so my helmet fits! May be time for an upgrade.
