Old team joining a league
« on: November 25, 2015, 11:14:16 AM »

We've got our AGM tonight and most of the buzz all season has been about joining a league due to the massive decrease in quality Saturday friendly fixtures have been providing.

It looks like we'll be joining the Herts Regional league C west assuming we vote for joining and are approved by the league, anyone know what kind of things we'll be finding? We have to start from the bottom but what kind of pitches will we be playing on etc?

Our 3s play in the regional b league east. They say that on the whole the pitches are of an ok standard its usually quite big clubs 4th or 5th team!

There is I believe the odd artificial pitch thrown in though which I know they hate!

Best of luck for getting accepted!

We voted to join the league and now we are just waiting on acceptance. In other news our Fixture Secretary who has been doing the job for over 20 years stepped down and it was left to muggins here as the only one to (very reluctantly) volunteer. Does anyone else do the job?

I do, alongside the secretary role. Compared to everything else it is very straightforward as long as you are proactive and start arranging things nice and early.

I have done it shouldn't be to difficult for you as the league will arrange fixtures maybe ring the clubs that your club like to play against and fill in any gaps inc pre and post league matches the headache can be contacting players and away team secs when the match is called off you always get someone turnup to play.

Yeah thank god it's only Sunday games I have to arrange. Effectively taking over half the job of the previous guy but blow me down if I haven't worn my fingers to the bone by April sending out emails!

@plumb111 you wouldn't happen to know when the first and last games of the season are in the Herts Regional league C by any chance?
