Ajmal retest
« on: January 26, 2015, 07:57:43 AM »

Hi guys

Seen that Ajmal had a retest over the weekend but i don't  know if he's still gonna be as effective without his doosra.

Like the Sri Lankan bowler he has had to become a more traditional off spinner and bowl side on with a lovely pivot - much like Graeme Swann.
You can't bowl the doosra from side on action - you need a splayed front foot and bent knee - so I agree qasim, I think that it is unlikely he will have the same impact.

he said in an interview he has had his doosra passed in unofficial tests so he is hoping it passes official tests

he has 5/6 deliveries from his interview and he has had them all passed unofficial so if they fail official tests it could be fun to see who told him they were fine.

Saqlain was the only guy I saw who bowled a Doosra legally. As Ajmal's "coach" he might well of got him bowling it legally. From what I remember and on youtube it's not the kind of big turning Doosra we have seen recently, so even if he can bowl it I doubt it will be nearly as effective.

Think this is proving just how good a bowler Graeme Swann actually was in his day!

Swann was class just a shame England picked him quite late in his playing career

And Saqlain.. he invented the doosra, bowled it properly.. and everyone else tried to reverse engineer it, but couldn't do it without chucking.

I think the way Saqlain bowled the doosra (legally) it just didn't turn as much as some people wanted it to. Once the 15 degree rule kicked it they all thought "hey I can bowl a big turning doosra by chucking it a little". Don't forget a Carrom ball can be bowled with much the same affect, legally.

He's right though, Singh does chuck, as do a few 'spinners' in county cricket and don't appear to get called.

quite unbelievable stuff from Ajmal, poor stuff 'throwing' Harbajan into the mix. He's clearly bitter now he has to bowl legally and the PCB are still paying on a central contract so ive heard...WHY? perhaps he should just be greatful and keep quite

He's lucky the record books hav'nt removed his wickets and started again when he has a legal action, so he'd have none I think.

What's worse is saying 'it's all against Pakistan again' . Actually the ICC are trying to clean up the sport and more power to them. SA/NZ/Windies/Sri Lankan players have all been called. There's no campaign against Pakistan...
But there is a campaign to try to clean it up, look around at your club games, how many throw it? loads in Middlesex...
