Hello Dolly
« on: November 07, 2015, 07:03:07 PM »

So...it has happened once again...I have purchased a new bat.  A Kookaburra Verve 400

Popped down to see Asad and met FattusCattus...
Did a ping test, didn't quite hit the ceiling!!

Was very very tempted by a Spartan MC4000 which was a lovely bat, but preferred this :)

Given her an oil already!

Went for it on pick up and only when I was paying for it did I notice the 11 on the shoulder! 2'11? I normally use a 2'8 but it picks up so well!

It was good to see you Ollie and the bat you picked up definitely has light pick up, sorry it failed the ceiling test but the one Bruce picked up did damage the ceiling  ;)

The number on the shoulder refers to the year of manufacture/intended sale normally (For example 2016 uk season bats will carry 16 on the shoulder even though most will be made before Christmas 2015) but a verve with 11 is odd unless this is an older bat that's been restickered by kookaburra. Is there anything on the binding when rolling the grip down from the top?

Jake, on all our bats, we write the actual weight of the bat and Ollie is referring to the weight written by me, 2.11

Indeed, 15 on one shoulder, E on the other with 11 in pencil.  :)

Didn't look like a 2011 bat as they weren't flat faced back then.

We all have our ways I suppose, on the knob of the handle under the grip isnwherebinwoukd would write any info on a particular bat :)

By writing weights on the shoulder makes our life easy as customers don't have to weigh the bats.

Well, I saw this bat 'in the flesh' so to speak today, when I was lucky enough to meet the delightful Mt Ollie.

I picked this up and waved it around, and even with my weak elbows, I would never have said 2.11 - it picks up soooo well. I never considered Kook bats before, because I thought they were used by ponces - but as a 400 grade, I have to say these offer terrific value for money.

I also met Mr Ollie who is a stocky young shaver, but looked a decent sort, and obviously has an eye for a decent stick!

Looks a lovely Kookaburra. I've not been a fan of their stickers recently but the willow looks lovely. Especially with its linseed tan

Named the tread after what you said at the bat lol!

Looking forward to knocking it in in a couple of weeks when I have some time off work! :D
