Brendon McCullum
« on: November 15, 2015, 05:48:16 PM »

Watching the highlights of the test match and they said that McCullum is using a 3lb 1oz bat! That is heavy!! Especially when Starc is bowling 100mph

Probably keeps him playing straighter having such a silly weighted bat

Sat in b3 once playing with a few of Aaron finches bats, that all weighed spot on 2.10

Then Watched a t20 that evening and an aus commentator spouting that finches bats are massive and weighs round the 3lb mark.

I think commentators just talk rubbish a lot!

Bit off topic but talking about exaggerations. Did I see Mitch Marsh clocked at 160kph yesterday? lol

It was Starc

I saw Starc, but Mitch Marsh was bowling and it definitely came up with 160kph. The crowd roared when they saw it.

The other day Laxman was commentating on the All Stars league game and said the GN behemoth that Sanga was using was just 2lbs...lol..I don't think he even knows how much his own bats weigh..

Laxman might be talking about his own bat  ;). I once received a bat from Laxman's kit (during IPL-1) and that was a matchstick, a rather "Explosive matchstick" and weighed around 2.6. Even with it's unbelievable ping I couldn't use it as it was too light, a mate used it a lot who would just flick effortless sixes on the leg side.

Commentator's have no clue about these stuff. I had met Sanga once during his practice session in Kochi (2011 IPL). He was using a SS Limited Edition bat weighing 1140 grams. I am quite sure he wouldn't reduce the weight so low ... I can see him moving 1 or 2 oz up or down. But 2lb 7oz to 2lb is a big drop and its impossible.

I saw that bit on TV yesterday too, I didn't believe it so I rewound it. They were supposed to be playing a replay of the 160kph delivery as the 'play of the day' but they messed it up and played the audio only over marsh bowling 'live'. The whole team being called Mitchell only confused matters more
