Just a topic of discussion -

At our club we play competitive league cricket on both Saturday's & Sundays as well as Midweek League & Cup matches. We have always had a policy whereby if you want to play for the club in one of these competitions (Apart from Midweek) you must not play for another club on the other day.

We've found that players that play for multiple clubs just don't put the effort in that is needed to keep a club afloat and that by stipulating this rule it keeps the club as a whole a lot stronger.

Does your club have a similar structure, or do you allow multiple club players? What experiences have you had and how do you deal with them as a club?

I don't know any club that has this type of arrangement, it's impossible to build a club that way.

We have guys who may play for a different Sunday team-they may have mates or play just social cricket-but not in competitive cricket.

In our league you are registered with one club and to move in the County your current club must release you, and no movement after July 31st each year.

Beggars can't be choosers is the case at my club. We struggle to get out 22 players a weekend so it's a case of if you fancy a game you're in no ifs or buts.

I should probably expand on this -

We are a 'small' village side. However we have a fairly large player base and we put out 3 teams on a Saturday and 2 on a Sunday.

Is that because Sunday cricket is social cricket for yourselves? Whereas where we play or a long time the higher standard has been on a Sunday?

there are Sunday league cricket matches in Middlesex, I presume you mean your club plays those type of fixtures, but we have a mixture available, our club is not in league cricket on Sundays, but other clubs are-so you just join that type of league if you want to....

There are more clubs wanting to play Sunday league cricket so that may be the way it will go moving forward...

personally speaking I like Sunday friendly cricket as we can pick and choose some very nice fixtures outside of London

You are missing a great recruitment opportunity. If you get players in on a Sunday for social cricket and they see what a great club you have, then you might convince them to join as full members the following year.

Unless you have a colts setup where you need to develop players, or you have spare players for weekend cricket then I think you are missing out.

I thought you had to be registered with the league as a player for your club and could only play league cricket for that club regardless of if its a Saturday  or a Sunday
that said  once  saw a guy playing for a different club under a different name.
