Larger grill.
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:44:10 PM »

Hi guys,
Anyone aware of any grills available in a larger size? Had a Masuri and now just purchased an Ayrtek and both fit fine in the head but neither grill covers more than half my chin no matter how i configure them.

How old was your Masuri? Older grills (anything before the Elite was released I think, someone will know for sure) are a lot smaller than the ones after that, the Elite went a lot lower and the Test grilles were altered to match at some point. Had a similar thing a couple years back myself, but when I updated helmets the newer grilles were fine due to the extra coverage.

It is probably 2/3 seasons old. Id send back the Ayrtek but ive already removed the stickers, cut off the chin strap & the loss  on postage just isnt worthwhile.
It might go on ebay if i can find a suitable helmet that might actually fit

I have the same problem as I have a melon for a head.  The new masuri helmets are far better plenty of space between grill and chin.  I hope my new Ayrtek will provide similar coverage.  Fingers crossed.

The helmets are plenty big enough, even with the smallest padding with was a little large for me, which is why id rather source a grill than a whole new helmet.

@dcullen8 is it the issue of the grill not coming low enough to cover your chin or it sitting too close to your chin?

If you can clarify we can go from there.

I have this problem as well, I've got a Masuri Elite with a Ti grille. I have to have the grille set with a wide opening from the peak so it comes level with my chin

Sorry busy day yday! @dcullen8 you could try the Albion style grille that @roco recommended as I've got his here for a refurb that offers a lower sweeping design to help cover you're chin.

Let me know as I've prob got a Ti22 as well as a steel version of it somewhere I can help with if it is something you want to try on the shell?
