GN Classic Prestige
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:41:05 PM »

A couple of years ago Vitas offered their pre-order deal during the Ashes which I regretted not going for. So this year I decided to take up the offer and went for the Classic Prestige.

Messaged Jake at 11:30pm on a night and had a quick conversation about what I wanted and payment methods etc, great service! Not many places you can do that late at night.

So I asked Jake for something around 2'10 and wasn't bothered too much about how it looked, Jake sent it this week and I'm very happy with what I received.

Specs
Weight: 2'11.2
Edge: 36mm
Spine: 56mm (approx)

Pick up is pretty much as you would expect for the weight, but can feel the difference in it being higher than the E41 I had previously. Very happy with the pick up.

Handle is on the thinner side of "average" but I don't mind that.

Here's some pics

Face

Very flat face

Side profile

A good amount of meat in here

Back

Slightly disappointed that the Prestige is a sticker and not etched.

Toe

A little bit not drastic scooping

Haven't had a ball on it yet but will take it to nets in Sunday.

Extremely happy with the bat and many thanks to Jake and Vitas!

That is a gorgeous looking bat!! GN really have got it spot on. Never bought a stick of theirs but I think it's nearing the time when I should dabble!!

I don't think I have ever owned a bad GN to be honest. In my younger days that's the only brand I ever used

Nice bat I hope it goes well for you :)

I've owned a bad Gray Nicolls, its been sold now but it was heavily concaved and had a pretty average response, it was an Oblivion 5 Star 2011 model but still it was pants.

I still have my old 2011 oblivion its massively concaved, very small sweet spot wasnt great off the lower end... The e41 is much better! And ive sent my current one back for refurb although asked for these same stickers i love them!

What scales did you use mate? I'm fairly sure it came up just over 2'10 on our scales. Scuff sheet will add a bit of weight of course, but the main thing is you are happy with the feel and pickup :)

The wife's kitchen scales. To be fair my last few 2'10s have come up as 2'14 on them.

Yeah more than happy with it. Thanks very much.

Had a nice little crowd round me at work when I opened it.

Just bought a big bundle of kit from Jake, and definitely recommend using Jake if you are thinking about buying a GN. Gone for a 'custom' GN which is going to be an e41 LE with players stickers as I enjoyed using one so much a couple of years ago. I will get some photos up on here when it comes through, but Jake was very helpful so couldn't recommend using Vitas enough.
