So I've started oiling and knocking in my warbird and cannot wait to use it. I will post a review about it, the grains on this G1 are unreal, could easily get away with it being a pro grade bat in terms of looks. As I previously mentioned in a topic the warbird G1 is sitting at 2lb 10.5 oz which is a nice weight. I'm looking to get a another H4L as a net bat and so didn't want to spend too much on the bat so was looking at the devil bat. Now as far as I'm aware these bats come in heavier sizes due to the low grade of the willow and hence the weight on the cleft, but is it possible to get the guys at H4L to make a devil bat around the 2lb 7oz or 2lb 8oz. Not too concerned about it being a massive bat/profile, just want a lighter bat with a decent ping. Possible?!

I have a 2lb8oz h4l devil. I got it from niche cricket about a year ago. It was a copy of a Newbury mojolnir and therefore unusual for a devil. I lent it out to a team mate.

I sure if you ask Matt he sort something out it might have to have some concaving but will still be a good bat

Was watching some videos of people like Brendon Mcullum & babar Azam and their bat speed is unreal! And looking at their bats it's definitely a lot lighter than what they would usually use. Brendon's 2lb 9oz is still a stick for him. So wanted to invest in a matchstick to just increase the bat speed.

i only knocked it in, realised I would never use it so lent it out on a permanent basis as long as the lad I lent it to continued to play for our club.
It is a good bat, not brilliant, as the size of the middle wasn't as large as my other h4l. However, I loved the handle. It was thin and oval. I use youth size gloves so I appreciate a thin handle.

The devils are absolute bargains
Matts quality control is so strict that many devils would be graded as pros or similar by other bat makers.
My match bat for this year is a devil, it's so good I've retired my affinity bats.
All his bats get the same pressing and attention to detail regardless of grading

I've tried to contact matt on this site... hasn't replied yet, hoping he does. I had a go today knocking around a few BB, chase bats, and it's so difficult to decide whether H4L are the best around! Either way Ive bought a warbird and it's nice but I really cannot see the difference between it and the bats I was tapping up today. Have people used Chase, bb bats, newbery bats before? Whats their fair opinion compared to the H4Ls?

I can't comment on H4L bats as never seen one in the flesh, everyone on here seems to rave about them so they must be pretty good...there is a wealth of bat buying knowledge on the forum.

Personally the best bat I've ever used is a Newbury, I hope my UZI green mamba will be even better but not had a chance to use it in anger yet.

I have 2 h4l's and have had/have many other makes. What I can say in my experience is that a good maker gets the best out of every cleft. My h4l's are excellent but they are no better than my Aldred, Salix, SS, bulldog.....
A good maker will consistently make outstanding bats and the consensus is that H4L do that. Other makers also do the same. Recently the warbird has had rave reviews on here, consequently many have been bought.

Yeah used all of those.

Chase - my local maker, used to be reasonably priced and good for the money. Sadly they have grown, so are charging big boy prices and no longer have the small brand feel I loved.

BB/Newbery - cannot TalK about the bat maker, but they're very well thought of. Good bats for a sensible price if you get a BB, Newbery charge a premium for the name. Can't go wrong with them though, you know exactly what you're going to get.

H4L - my new found love. Slightly further away from me than Chase but you get that small brand personal service feel. What I love is that Matt puts the same effort into all his bats, be it a Devil grade or a Custom.

G2 is just a little out of my price range for a second bat as I already have bought a G1 Warbird, nevertheless I hope it impresses me and makes me not ever want to move away from H4L.

I have tried all brands for me you can't go wrong with h4l what weight is your match bat I find if you keep swapping from heavy to light it hard to get use to a set weight
