I don't mean to jump on the bandwagon but I too would love to know how to make a jig for one. Or even better yet purchase one from another maker who has more than one!

I started attempting to plan one to use on a mate's bandsaw but unfortunately he sold it before I got a chance to make it (was too expensive for me!). Will see if I saved anything when I get home as it was a while back now. Can remember my head nearly blowing up while trying to work out the angles/distances!

Here's some pics of my one I took when I was doing a re-handle.

The timber on either side of the jig is to be set against a fence on a band saw. It's proabably not worth telling you the measurements as I have made it specifically for my saw. All I will say for this method is that if you are using a band saw with a blade less an inch wide, then it is very difficult to stop the blade twisting while you are cutting and is not necessarily better than cutting by hand if you are, like me, not making lots of bats! It will be fine if you go really slowly though!

If I remember I'll take some photos of my handle jig to add to the thread.

Sorry guys, seems I've lost my plan file  :(. Was very similar to the above in the way that the edges were angled to create the correct angle from the splice. May draw it up again some time if I can be bothered  :D.

Does this pivot then, Ryan? My splice jig is much more compact!

Yes, and clamps the handle in place.  My blade jig does the same.

I was too lazy to make something with a pivot in it :) Do you get the same problem that I do with the band saw blade moving about during the cut? I wander if I should tighten the blade a bit but it seems pretty good.

Get a decent quality blade rather than the ones you get with the bandsaws as they always tend to be poor. Set it up properly and it shouldn't be too bad. Plenty of videos on YouTube of how to set one up. Mine doesn't wander, Nothing that you can see anyway.

No, not at all. I'd check the tension and the blade guides.
