An Uzi Sports Easter goodie
« on: March 28, 2016, 02:39:21 PM »

After all the great reviews of the service and stock Asad offers, I couldn't resist a trip to Swindon yesterday. I can only echo everyone else's comments on the warmth of the welcome offered and the quality of willow available, after sorting through what seemed like half the bats there I managed to actually make a decision and came away with a pretty special Thruxton SPS that was tucked away waiting for me  ;)

I could easily have picked another 4 or 5, the process of actually choosing 1 bat was not easy given how many beautiful sticks that ping like trampolines Asad has  :)

In the end, I couldn't resist the pick up and balance of this baby  :)

Nice bat that if it's the same one I taped up last Saturday you have a serious bat on your hands like most off Uzi sports bats

Weighs 2-11, edges are 32-33mm and the spine is about 61mm so maybe not the biggest but the response off the mallet was amazing, like Simon says, Asad has some serious bats

Lovely looking stick. I prefer the traditional newbery branding to the new stuff they have done recently

Yeah, there was also a lovely GT with the Cadbury stickers that was very tempting!

I know exactly the bat you are referring to, that was the first one to catch my eye when we went in

Thanks for your visit @treefeller . it was great to meet you. I am glad you are happy with your purchase. All the Newbery bats ( seniors/Juniors) are of very high quality as we have spent hours hand picking them and few of them were especially made for us.

That's a very nice bat. I have seen some belters from newbery - one bat was 2-7 , may be 30 mm edge but the bat pinged like a trampoline. Great buy

I have to echo what you are saying here. I picked a GN F18 on Sunday and the whole process of buying a bat is so much simpler at the shop. I was super focused on what I wanted but I could've chosen at least another 3 bars and would've been absolutely happy with them.
I spent about 15 minutes looking at the Uzi bats and compared to the +£500 bats from others, these were head and shoulders better on performance and looks. Perhaps if I was younger and played a more serious level I would've been tempted to get one.
