GN Carbo Handle thoughts
« on: May 31, 2016, 08:10:34 PM »

Hi all,

So to change the again topic away from all the new Aussie wood to something that's bothering me with my Uk GN maverick. I have the Carbo model and it's lovely, except for the handle. Now the shape is perfect but the sound the bat makes isn't. The middle is fantastic but still makes a weird sound and doesn't feel great just above or below the main sweet spot. Am I right in saying the Carbo handle gives no flex at all and is supposed to give more power ( thought that was what Laver said about there Carbo handle)

I'm thinking im of getting the handle replaced with a normal cane handle so has anyone had a bat with a Carbo handle that they have replaced with a traditional one and if so was there a difference?

I had a nitro titanium with a carbo Handel and does take some time to get use to the different sound and feel in the end I did have the Handel replaced as it just felt so strange and the feel in the hands was not the best

Lad at a club had abpowerbownwith carbo handle. Bat flew for years. Handle snapped. Replaced with standard.

He then bought a new bat 2 weeks later as it's just didn't perform aswell.

Not sure sound should have any bearing on weather you can use a at or not. Feel yes, but sound? Strange reason to change or not sue a bat.

Not only gives more power but the main purpose of the carbon on the exterior of the handle up to 5inches from the splice is there to reduce handle stress and help prevent the handle breaking it also reduces vibration the funny sound off the  bat is  part of the process.

I'm not thinking about changing due to the sound Its just a noticeable different sound. It's just the performace but maybe it's just going to take some time to get used to. I only use for T20 at present

Taking a slightly different view on this, I've used the Newbery C6 bats and they sound and feel very different from the normal bat due to the additional stiffness of the handle. The GN Fusion I've got coming will be interesting to compare to it.

I have an Oblivion Carbo which certainly was powerful, I bludgeoned 50+ sixes with it in a season including some of the biggest blows I have ever hit in my life. Never enjoyed the feel of it though and retired it at the end of that year with 1200 runs through it.

The thought never crossed my mind that the reason I didn't like the feel could have been the handle and the handle was what gave it power though...

My Carbo GN was the worst bat I've ever owned. The most expensive bat I've ever bought -  I think I spent £350 on it, and it was just a terrible, terrible bat. I sent it back to GN 2/3 times and they refused to do anything with it. Bat was absolutely shocking.
