Which of these two would you recommend based on facts below?

1. Opening Batsman
2. Prefer 2.7 to 2.9 bats
3. Pick up is more important as I prefer backfoot shots
4. Like the pickup of GM Six6 but not Laver wood Mega or Carbo profiles
5. No store nearby to go and see these bats personally

Both essentially have the same profile. I would recommend using other brands as most of the SS bats have a lower middle. And that impacts the pick-up. Use a mid middle bat.

Agree with @sgcricket . If you're mostly playing back foot shots you want something with a mid/high middle.

I have a Laver Signature Carbo Profile 2.10 (Picked during fire sale) which is opening up very slowly. Pick up is decent and I am starting to like it.
I have another new unused Laverwood Reserve Mega 2.9 which I just do not like the pick up. Might as well sell it.
GM Six6 808 2.8 is the one I like but the ball doesn't travel far even when it is middled perfectly.

Some of the SS Tons I have used from other friends have felt better than Mega for sure.

Both are equally good but unfortunately, very difficult to get either of them in 2.7-2.9 weights. 2.9 will be starting weight for most of them, even the low 2.9 ones will be hard to get. 2.9.5 and over most of them in my experience.

GM & Lavers are pure quality. For the most part they are pressed a little harder and it will take more time than usual to open up. Spend more time with these bats and you will like them. GM six6 is my personal favorite and it plays really well, however it took me around 10-15 net sessions to get the bat to open up.

SS Tons are a little softer pressed compared to GM. So it might give u the sponge feel straight away and it might feel better to you. But when it comes to longevity and performance i feel that GM strikes a better balance between the two and make its more value for money than SS.

I love the pick up on Six6 and Mogul. Maybe I lack patience as we don't have too many net sessions and more matches so want the bat to get going. I have been using the Six6 for tape ball league and scoring a lot of runs. I guess, I will keep using it in practice with old balls.
I have reached out to SS directly to see if they can make a custom bat with Mogul's profile and Reserve willow.
