Hairdryer or heat gun. Pull across the grain.

Heat up with a hairdryer, pull across the grain, leave a day or two for any residual glue to dry and then it became a much easier to sand it away

Any residual glue can be removed with brasso, works a treat, then sanding it to get rid of sticker marks has worked for me on my last couple of refurbs
