Lydia greenway retires
« on: June 01, 2016, 05:55:04 PM »

Greenway has retired from international duty

Edwards forced into retirement Taylor taking a break and greenway gone too! I hope mark Robinson has a damn good plan! Weakens England drastically

She said same as Edwards

"Coach told me I was not going to play"

Big clear out maybe too much though or he is he just that paranoid he needs to get rid of all senior players so he can start again?

Taylor is a shame as she is a very good cricketer however some of the interviews that Robinson has given have been pretty damning of the current group - specifically fitness. The old guard, Edwards in particular, were at the end of their careers and perhaps didn't fancy a fresh start. Although they could continue to perform at a good level in their current method.

New direction, new players all buying in to a system. It could be very exciting. Coaches live and die by these decisions

Yeah but it seems daft! as we were saying monday mate why get rid of edwards when shes the best in the side still and greenway isnt too far behind considering she bats in the middle order?

shame as it means aus will probably dominate the women's game for a while

Well done ECB, another good decision.. Clueless

Edwards is by a long way above any other batsmen

Taylor is next By a mile...

Both gone due to bizarre theories., sure, Edwards couldn't move as well and will 'cost 4-5 runs per innings.. She also scores 20+ more than the rest.. For a team with all the analysts they aren't to great at analysing

No surprise really, Greenway was dropped during the last ODI series and Elwiss replaced her and scored a match winning run a ball 60 odd and in the world T20 she was almost a specialist fielder coming in below Brunt most of the time.

With the amount they get paid compared to the men it's not surprising when you reach a certain age and are told you are going to struggle to make the side that you lose the hunger and desire to fight for your place.
