Any clefts?
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:12:44 PM »

Hi People,
Does anyone have any clefts they could send my way, and what price?
I'm currently in the process of building my own press and would like to grab a few clefts to test it on, anyone got any? Don't want to go to Wrights just yet as don't want to buy a bulk quantity until I've sorted my press.
Cheers!

Part made cleft would be of interest to me if at the right price, would be interesting to see how it would turn out as I've not got the kit to do a cleft in a raw state.

Odd? Cheers!

I didn't think so... have been buying part mades before which I've thoroughly enjoyed working with. Obviously the next step is to move on to the whole process of bat making which would involve using/building a press, which I've now started. So why buy some willow when I've got nothing to press it with? Just want a few clefts at this stage so I can try and get the press up and running before I commit to buying a larger amount. Once I know the press is working well i can go and buy a larger amount.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

P.S. I'm not looking to take on the world here, just want to make a small number of hand made bats.

Ok, many thanks for the advice. I'm assuming due to density/softness/price?

Its much cheaper than willow and will still be fine to 'test' your press on.
