Hi Guys,
Just thought I would share my thoughts/feedback around my New L&W Reserve(MH MEGA) Profile,
Background :
After seeing a MHMEGA profile on L&W FB page, I reached out to Anthony at L&W to see if I can get a similar profile bat and after couple emails and phone call with James, i figured out it was pretty straight forward process and order-to-delivery took 2.5 weeks. Have have requested for following specs(as is from my email to L&W).
Specs:
Profile : L&W Reserve- MH MEGA (Refer Attached image )
Handle Style: Super Short C10 Handle (Semi-Oval-Thin)
38-40" millimetre edges
Spine: 63-65'' profile spine(Spine running all the way to from top to bottom of the bat)
Sweet spot: Mid
Minimum to Slight : con-caving
Weight: 2''9( With exceptional Pick up with Balance)
Grains: 8-10 straight grains with Ping and Performance
Other:
- Knocking in
- Boned Edges
- Extratech
- Laver & Wood Retro stickers( Black)
- Double Grip with Chevron grip( Black)
My experience,
When I saw some pictures from L&W of my finished bat, i was kind off " ohh there are few blemishes on the bat". Not surprised, given we are used to seeing a clean straight grain bat for Reserve price, but then I soon realised, I had asked for a bat that Pick up with Balance and ping and Performance(As noted in specs above). I decided to get the bat delivered. I will strongly recommend trying L&W based on my past and present experience.
Review:
Over all the bat met my above mentioned specs ,Great Ping/Pick up and initial knocking gave a very good feel of consistent rebound across the face, Very Happy with the end product. Bat finishing as good as you can get, Handle feels is really good. Hope to knock it in further and score some runs this season.
My 2 Cents( purely my opinion based on past experience) hope you enjoy reading them
- Suggest NOT to go by too much of customisation, Stick to the profile L&W are good at making. you have better chance of getting a bat you want, although i know that they can replicate any bat you want them to.
- Know your game, and the opt for profile weight that you are comfortable with.( I had my Salix Torque Players, Similar profile, 2.10)
- Willow grading is largely subjective( Blemishes, Grain structure), don't be too caught up in Grade 1/2/3. you pay premium price, you get premium wood, simple. Opt for performance vs looks.
- All L&W bats have some kind of blemishes/Heartwood, but trust the bat maker who emphasis on pick and performance/Pressing.
- I will strongly recommend trying L&W for the quality of bat they make, effort they put to get the bat you need. Given they are small and nimble, it gives me sense of satisfaction in supporting a boutique bat maker with great customer service
Now enjoy pics ... comments appreciated
