Weather Forecasts and Apps
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:57:47 AM »

What weather apps did people use to keep an eye on the weekend forecasts, and how reliable were they.

I am still amazed at how unreliable most are, even with all the fancy satellites we have in space.

What were your experiences from the season?

accu weather and bbc

they got it massively wrong on sat, forecasting it to stop raining at noon....forecast didnt change for 36 hours

it gets to 12 and then the forecast is for rain until 4

the rain kept coming to about 5pm

with 6 hours notice, rain radar and sats i dont see how they can get it so wrong

I use a spanish one - strangely - called Eltiempo.es

Ridiculously accurate, been using it for a year or so and it's been wrong probably once or twice.

Second that, if the forecast suggests there's rain around then this is brilliant for giving you a very good idea whether it's going to reach you in the next few hours, the animation tells you which way the rain areas are moving, been invaluable in a couple of potentially rain-affected games.

I tend to use the Met Office app and it's been spot on all season, with rainfall correct down to the hour.

interesting to note that raintoday.co.uk is powered by meteogroup. meteogroup also supply to the bbc now after they got rid of metoffice, i think they're all as inaccurate as each other personally

yep a few times Ive used this to keep an umpire undated on the weather... facing defeat and you show him the nasty rain on its way or if a win needed then convince it wont reach until 9pm!

I've used weather & rain on android this season... pretty accurate and quick when it comes to a change in weather! last sunday it said it would have a 40% chance of rain on saturday, yesterday it changed to 20% ... and gives you a nice little radar of all the little showers that are in the area.
