I've been having coaching all winter and am borrowing a mates Go Pro to film my net tonight to see how i am getting on. What/where do people advise is the best place to set this up? Its a net in school hall so no obvious raised location above the net so assuming on the floor where the stumps would be?

Best place for me is behind the nets on a clamp, it's gotten walloped when straight down the middle or elsewhere.

I've tried this with an sj5000. What field of view angle do you use? At 170 degrees everything is tiny. Or would you zoom it in post processing?

Straight on from the stumps at the bowlers end is the ideal position but with the nature of the field ov vision on 'action' camera such as the GoPro, the batsman is in the very distance so it is hard to see clearly. You can crop post editing to make it bigger which acts like a zoom but the quality reduces dramatically.

Outside the net behind the batsman is a good option (we can't do this indoor as the back of the net is solid material) or I have put the camera in an empty net alongside the net being used and positioned the camera at short cover position. I attach mine to a go pro clamp which then clamps on to a spare set of stumps.

Thanks fellas, ive borrowed it from a friend and it has a clamp with it. Will let you know the outcome

I always put mine on the floor right on middle stump about 3 or 4 metres away from the bowler's end. I put mine on a large clip that acts as a foot. I've absolutely smashed it about 5 times and there isn't a scratch on it. As long as it can just be knocked over it shouldn't be harmed, if you fix it to something something with probably break, most likely the fixing.

You get a really view of yourself and you can also pick up comments from the coach feeding the machine.
