Play cricket
« on: October 04, 2016, 09:27:51 AM »

given the ECB website appears to be a better

got me thinking about Play cricket which is used to store results. Who uses it, what do people think of it, do people use other things

My club has a number of tools including Pitchero, our league website (Thames Valley cricket) and play cricket - it's a lot of admin for a every team. escpecially as they don' integrate

so CBFers discuss... play cricket and do you use it? how do you find it?

we use it and it intergrates with east sussex league so all results are updated on a table automatically, the table they use for the statistics is awful!

But i like that they've now added capability for admins to upload results(only, no other info) on mobile easier rather than desktop view. They are slowly getting there dispite it being used by thousands!

I went to a kent cricket board event/day a couple of years ago and they had a guy from the ECB who was ultimately responsilbe for play cricket (he did alot more than that but cant remember his exact job title). he said they had a roadmap for play cricket and would be bringing alot of new features and functionality over the next 2-3 years. I know it did change with the easier editor interface for updating your pages etc but havent seen too much on the results stuff other than some cosmetic changes, that being said i am no longer league rep like i used to be at my previous club so dont really see the admin side anymore

All ECB leagues have to use play-cricket, although the functionality has been questionable.  The York league will be using it again next year.  We used to have it, but it didn't calculate results, etc. correctly so moved to a bespoke custom-built one.  However, with ECB pressure and the promise it will work as we require, our league will be using play-cricket in 2017.

I, for one, am hesitant that it will be ready 100%.

Only if the league and play cricket communicate well, and following that teams enter bonus points ect in correctly, but our league is pretty hot on fixing that issue before monday (saturday league games)

I had the pleasure of being questioned by a chap who flew al the way from a university in australia to ask me about our online footprint and how we use the internet (crazy particularly as he already knew). He mentioned alot of clubs were really struggling to find a one size fits all and using several platforms. He also mentioned several play cricket functions are on the way. Currently i think it is not user friendly

play cricket is fine for stats but nowhere near good enough for club pages, we use pitchero for news pages, calenders and links to social media
