My old man was after a new bat,  at 74, and wanted a copy of his old favourite. I directed him to John,  being round the corner,  and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours watching John copy the old classic.

The final specs:-

A sign of the times is John couldn't copy it exactly as the new bat was so much larger! The edge on the original was only 15mm at most. The profile apart from the edge is almost the same,  little or no concaving and shoulders the same.

The review is a bit delayed as I wanted to do some comparison shots and it's taken a bit of time to get the two bats together. Many thanks to John for his excellent work and accommodating us.

Ever met a happy 74 year old lol? Yeah he's chuffed, loved watching John work on it in front of him and getting a skinny handle for his tiny hands.

What is the official stance on fake stickers again? 

Given the bat had a broken handle,  40 odd years old and was never going to be used again,  let alone be sold on I figured some tidying up was ok. I did the refurb a couple of years ago for the old man to frame it but he never got round to it.  Apologies for the incorrect side stickers lol

It's an interesting comparison of size and how far bat sizes have come. This isn't,  to my knowledge,  an ultralight cleft either.

The cleft was of average weight for the starting dimensions. A nice goodweighted cleft which has made a great bat for the weight

Great to see this bat recreated, i was once told bats this old had screws inserted near the middle
Hence the expression 'out of the screws' -which im sure is a phrase only used now by the over fortys.
Anyway..great work nice to see a classic bat copied
