Rejuvenating your balls
« on: December 15, 2016, 08:15:31 AM »

Has anyone tried to improve the quality of faded net balls? I have ordered some red shoe polish with a view to polishing up my jaded balls and wondered if anyone else had tried this or any other techniques to put a shine back on.

If you put them in your hand and play with them (throw them up and down or spin them in the air) the natural oils etc from your hands will make them nice again.

I used to have old balls but now I play with them more through work they have become much newer looking.

I find that snipping off any loose and wispy strands, then a vigorous rubbing with a mixture of linseed oil and plum sauce should restore to them a ruddy glow.

sorry I forgot we are in generation snowflake (and you had turned into a southern softie)

without derailing too much would the shine not matter as much as the hardness?

How would you get the ball hard again or does this not matter

First a touch is salava to moisten the ball then apply a water based cream  to remove the dirt  off the ball leave it on the ball for a few mins then wipe off using a paper towel try and avoid getting the cream on the seam of the ball
when the ball is dry apply leather polish restorer to the ball leave for a few mins and buff up using a clean duster using the duster in a  small circular motion
Any one who as been in the armed forces will tell you this the best watch to bring out a shine.

I know of a guy who used to apply Mr Sheen to one side only - enabled him to generate plenty of wobble when net bowling.
