Bat Postage
« on: January 21, 2017, 08:09:11 PM »

CBF - Please could you share the most sensible way to send a bat in the UK - keeping cost down but also being reliable?

Or direct me to a previous thread as I can't find one.

Thanks

I have used Royal Mail , MY Hermes and parcel force. I personally Avoid Royal Mail and prefer either PF or MH.

What sort of cost? My wife, who reluctantly ends up going to the post office, says £11ish. Surely there's a cheaper way?

This is about average what I pay for postage. I was told it depends how much a package weighs.

Always used MyHermes with no problems......until now!!  :(. Waiting on a bat from a forum member that was picked up by the courier on Thursday 12th.  Tracking just keeps putting the estimated delivery date back and back!  Forum member is hopefully chasing it up for me but had no update as yet.

Anyway, unless the bat is ridiculously massive, a boxed and packaged bat will come in at under 2kg, so fully insured for most bats I've posted, maybe insured for £150, will cost you around £9.  Obviously if the bat is insured for less, the postage will cost you less.

@Andythomo21
I've noticed the same used myhermes for around 18 months now since switching from yodel, and had no issues whatsoever until I sent a bat back a couple of weeks ago, the courier never came to pick it up even though it was supposed to be, so took it to the parcel shop close to me instead, the bat went through the delivery system just fine, until the final stage, it appeared with "signature received" however the bat hadn't turned up at all.
Thankfully I'd seen Carlos post about the gloves that did the same for him and said signature received but hadn't, but then did arrive two days later, so I waited a few days and then checked with the person it was going to again, and they'd received it thankfully.
I fear that the companies rather very busy, changed hands or struggling somehow as the service in the last month has definitely changed

My Hermes had the fastest turnaround for me even when the packages coming from UK to US. I just received a bat yesterday that was shipped on 5th January using Royal Mail and there was no update for tracking for almost 10 days.

Yeah I sent the bat to Andy via Hermes and they have been bad.  Bat got lost and now I have to wait two weeks before I know if I get my money and insurance paid. Annoying. Used to be £4.50 with royal mail
