Threading the bottom of the bat
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:04:50 PM »

Hey guys....I just had a toe crack trying to play a very low full toss. The best solution I thought is glue it up & thread it up for 2-3". Do we have a DIY topic on this forum which gives detailed steps to do the bottom threading? If not, appreciate If someone here can please guide me through.....what thread/glue to use, how to do the binding....etc.

As an alteritive If the crack is not to bad have you considered glueing and then binding with  cricket bat repair tape it's easier to do than glueing and threading and looks a better repair.

Me too in similar situation after last week's game. Had done bat tape before but the crack/wood broke through the tape twice in past. I am thinking binding might be stronger..

To bind using heavy twine it's something you see much these days also some say it adds weight  you  can start by making a slip knot place the knot at the back of the blade thread the twine through the loop and coat the twine with  gorilla glue the secret is to keep the twine tight as you pull it through the loop   Completely cover the split  then cut the twine  make another loop and tie  a knot at the back of the bat.
On completion give the twine repair a coat of glue.
