So the only reason I use Facebook is because our club does most of its team organising and communicating through it... however that being said there are times when I find myself flicking through the app and somehow I managed to follow a link to the "market place". I had no idea this existed so to see what happened i typed in cricket bat. On the first page was an advert for a bat, grainy pics from a distance of a bat in a wrapper next too a bat cover. I could clearly make out it was a chase but after that it was anyones guess... I googled chase bats and came to the conclusion from the colour of the stickers it was a Lancer... ok, not their most exotic bat but its still a chase.... but what grade?
After a few messages it was clear the seller had no clue about cricket and all I would get back is that it was grade 1 and was selling it for his father... the bat wasn't even at his house. We did share about 2 friends (ex team mates from when I lived in another part of the country) so I thought it would be worth a punt.... he wasn't keen on posting but after a healthy uplift on the asking price was offered (probably more than double the cost of postage) I persuaded him to send it over....
Anyway today this arrived...
All in all a very nice bat, sticker on the shoulder says 2.8 but I have a sneaky feeling its a tad more. I had expected it to be at worst a fake, and at best a refurb but this bat has definitely never ever seen a ball in its life. I did have my fingers crossed it would be a R11 but that was hoping for too much. Mallet response is ok... not a trampoline but after a bit of work should be fine.
After all a brand new chase bat for £50 (including my over generous postage contribution and the bat cover) aint too bad in my books. Definitely happy.
