Recently the last pair of my bas players gloves died ( i go through about five pairs of gloves a year ) . So , i was looking for replacements . I have used some othef brand alternatives before ( there are quite a few : dhoni 7 in all white or in blue /white ; mrf kholi in red/white/blue ; bdm Tendulkars in red or dark blue or blue or black or black/green or yellow etc etc ) , and i liked the dhonis perforated palm for durability against sweat , but i ultimately still liked the bas players the best as the sheep skin leather on them is quite luxurious.
Anyway , i was hoping to find any of bas players or alternatives on the cheap because i was going to buy about 25 pairs of gloves in total .... i did mention i go through gloves quickly , right ?
I saw S.M Pinto Vigour gloves on online stockist for $35ish au ( compared to $45-$53ish au for all the others ) and thought I'd buy a few and if they were in the same vacinity of quality I'd then get more . The jury is in .... i ended up getting half my glove allotment in these gloves (12 pairs) .
Firstly , they look like a bas players / mrf hybrid. But , i got four different variants - ones with blue embossed sm logos and white p.u backing , ones with red sm logos and greyish , more leather like backing , ones with a red and a black velcro logo and white pu backing , and red gloves with red logos and white pu backing .
The ones with the whiter pu backing most closely resemble mrf's and the ones with the greyish leather like backing feel more like bas players . The blue embossed logos are the classiest and feel/look bas players like .
The gloves all have that silver/metallic forefinger and middle finger padding on the bottom two fingers ( covering over the plastic finger shell ) but , unlike any of the other alternatives , these sm's also have it on the ring and pinky fingers of the top hand..... i liked that .
These sm's are vented / have air flow gussets on the side elastic , like the mrfs and ss dhonis , and unlike the bas players , which just have full elastic sides .
The sheepskin leather is better than the bdm versions, not quite on a par with bas players.... maybe equivalent to the mrf's . Overall I'd say these gloves are better than the bdm , on par with mrf and ss dhoni 7 , and just shy of bas players in terms of quality . These gloves are at least equal , if not a tiny bit better than all the others in terms of protection .
Anyway , just thought a small review of these would possibly be of interest as , as far as i know , they haven't really been mentioned on here before .
