One inch of blade weighs more than 1 inch of handle. So if a bat has a longer handle/shorter blade it will weigh slightly (ever so) less than a standard handle/blade set up.
If the bats are the same dead weight. The shorter blade will have more weight further from the hands, therefore feeling heavier.

exactly!!! the further the weight is from the fulcrum the heavier it is.
What I want to know is,
if a 2.7 bat an inch shorter feels lighter than a standard 2.7, then what weight short blade bat will feel like the standard size 2.7 (both having a similar shape). For arguments sake say it is a 2.9.
Then I want to know what size standard length bat will be a 2.9 once I have chopped an inch off the bottom?

DorsetDan - do you actually own a GN Pro Performance?  I happen to own two that I bought from Vitas Cricket earlier this year and I can confirm that overall the bat is 1" shorter than a regular SH bat because the blade is 1" shorter than a SH and the handle is same length as a SH bat.  It may be that the two bats I bought are not the regular length of all the other Pro Performance bats made by GN but I highly doubt that.  In fact when I was buying the bat from Jake at Vitas he expressly told me this is the case just in case I may be disappointed when I took delivery.

Thats the case with every PP that i've seen, i did add an extension cap onto the handle for a couple of customers after successfully doing it to my own to make the handle a little longer and therefore the bat the same length overall as a SH. Happy to do the same for you if i haven't already :)
