Put a pair of pittards through and it cleaned em but they've gone crispy and unusable

Might depend on water hardness etc

Ive been experimenting re my training bag/kit , which i use 3 or 4 times a week , abuse , and don't care for /air out /maintain nearly as much as i should .
I have been using 'nil odour' , comes in small bottles with a dropper nozzle . A drop or two in the bag , in the gloves , in the helmet etc seems to do the trick. ....ive only applied it once , a few weeks back , and my kit still smells of vanilla.  Maybe not everyone's ideal smell , but way better than old sweat !
