Really simple question, why do you round the edges of a bat but not the toe?

I actually do round the front edge of the toe and the corners . Same process i use for edges.... finely sand , then boning on bathtub or by using a rolling pin , then knocking in .
I guess i might be one of the only ones though .

isnt it something to do with the tapping on the ground that can lead to more feathering if it has been rounded down.
I could be wrong, definitely more qualified people here to explain

Im a heavy tapper , used to get feathering , but i no longer do ever since rounding the front of the toe..... so , at least for me , this is not the case .

How long do you guys spend rounding edges? Or does it depend on the bat?

i just round edges until i see the sharpness of the edge lessen a bit (to a point where you know knocking in will take care of the rest .... think of trying to achieve what is already on some brands /makes that come  with rounded edges 'straight out of the packet').

Rounding the edge is done to harden the edge and toe and protect it as part of the knocking in process.
