New bowling coach
« on: October 31, 2017, 09:21:36 PM »

Well...slightly surprised myself and I know there are Essex fans on here maybe who wanted Silverwood to stay with them after the fantastic season they had but....

Silverwood is the New England coach, just reward for his efforts in County cricket and an Englishman. Does the fact he knows Champion ship cricket help?

I'm not sure as I know 'cack all' about bowling(as someone once told me).

Anyway, well done and sure there's loads of us England fans hoping it goes well.

Did I read he doesn’t take up the role until January, does that mean there isn’t a bowling coach for the test part of the tour?

EDIT. Just read in cricinfo that Shane bond is the coach until then

He was a good quick bowler,  but his coaching seems to generate even more praise. He seems to be able to relate to the players very well, in addition to his technical knowledge.
It is very positive that there were several strong English candidates for the role (not that I am against an overseas coach).
