REAPER cricket custom review
« on: January 25, 2018, 01:12:46 PM »

Over the winter I went to the REAPER workshop to pick a cleft and get a custom bat made. Tom the bat maker has a small workshop but it's nicely laid out and they have the ability to perform every step in the bat making process. So I chose a cleft that was already handled and Tom got to work shaping every part of the bat to how I wanted it, he even pressed it infront of me to my feel (obviously being guided by him). Tom has a firm belief that cricket bats need to have a thicker handle and more weight in the shoulders and this is something that I agreed with. So what I was left with was a bat with a lowish middle extending a long way up the blade, the bat has a decent bow and picks up lovely. Nice and clean looking with a decent sized profile and a fair amount of concaving (something I'm not bothered by) it goes really nicely all the way up the blade and the new white stickers look class. The handle is one of the nicest I've felt and finishes the bat nicely. Tom fitted a toe guard and a grip of my choosing and away I went. The bat is finished nicely and all in all is one of my favourite bats I've got.

Here was the cleft I went for:

Pics of the finished bat will follow once I go back to my parents

Very nice cleft mate, seen his kit via the TCB and must say profiles loom very nice, stickers aren't my cup of tea but profiles and softs look very nice
