G&M 909 D30

Hi,
I've seen a good deal on some G&M 909 D30 batting gloves (£30). I would like to know if these gloves are good quality and if the D30 is not just a gimmick that may jeopardize safety?
I see the 909 D30 are cheaper (RRP) than the G&M Orignal batting gloves.
Actually, I can get the 909 D30 Oversized mens (OSM) for £30 or the Original mens standard size for £30. From my wrist crease to the tip of my middle finger is bang on the measurement of the mens standard. Therefore would I be advised to get the 909 D30 OSM gloves?

On sizing you may need to try them on, but if you like your gloves snug go regular, if you don't go large.

On the protection, the d30 isn't a gimmick, it is a decent protection material, although it is slightly heavier than other foams. They will protect your fingers fine!

Choose the pair you like the look of the most...

I like the look of both of them. I've seen better looking gloves but they are £50 and not as good a bargain.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to try them on first as these will be bought online. I bought a pair of mens Grey Nicolls batting gloves many years ago, when I last played, and found them small. I couldn't even curl my fingers fully.

The above shows the G&M Original batting gloves I'm referring too. My wrist crease to middle finger is spot on a 'Large'. Maybe I need a Extra Large (i.e. OSM).

I would go for the originals personally. GM gloves can come up a bit snug so go large.

However if you are used to indian mens, then go regular as indian mens is smaller than UK mens.
I only say this because the sweatshop link appears to be indian and I don't know where you are based!

The links used are just to show the gloves in conversation. I do not know where either have been made.
The G&M 909 D30 are OSM and £30
The G&M Original are standard mens and £30.
The Originals have a higher RRP so I presume are better. As for looks either are fine. As the 909 D30 are OSM I think they may be a safer bet. Just wondering, if this D30 material the special, then why isn't it in the higher priced Originals.
Is £30 a good price for both of these are just an average deal?

The D30 gloves are older than the originals, hence the RRP being lower (prices have increased steadily over the years).

The D30 and original gloves should both be pretty high end in quality though, both a good price at 30 quid

I used to have the 909 D30 pads, and they were great! When I used to take cricket more seriously I got pinned a few times at 85mph + 5 for the surface on the machine, and literally didn't feel a thing. It didn't catch on though, sadly- a bit like Poron?

Well, if they are both top quality and will protect my hands then I'll go with the 909 D30 Oversized. Just didn't want to miss out on the Originals if they were better, albeit smaller.

Actually there are two versions of the same model glove (I presume one is more recent that the other). See below. The top link are the ones I can get.

My question,
The design is quite different in the fingers. Mine (if I buy them) have a 'block' style on the fingers. The others are like 'V' shaped fingers. Which are better?
Should I forget the 909 D30 and go for sausage style fingers?

Totally personal preference.
Personally I like the v shaped sausage fingers as I find that they tend to be more flexible.

Buy the oversized version.
Alternatively buy the matching oversized gloves to the gekko pads you want. And then add 3 or four bats... 😉😁

Ah you've seen my other post...
Are you saying that Gecko is cheap and that I should stay away from them?
Through looking at the pads the style, padding, knee design, split middle strap, are the same designs as more expensive pads, by better known brands. I wonder if the Gecko pads were made by a good manufacturer and just stuck a lesser brand label on them. Anyway I should save this for the other post.
I'm just getting back into the game, after many many years out, and thought I'd pick your brains.

@nad12 welcome to the forum! You'll find a great number of brands source their kit from a much smaller number of manufacturers than you'd probably expect! Sometimes that's useful to know, others it doesn't matter so much.

I've decided to go for some Newbery Triumph gloves as they were on sale very cheap. They will do until I know what I want in some gloves.
Just hope the Newbery Triumph gloves have the protection I need bearing in mind they were so cheap??
