Gray Nicolls Powerbow 6

Morning all

Thought I would share a few pics of my new Gray Nicolls Powerbow. I obtained this through Rob @Six Sixes Cricket who as always was great to deal with, happy to share pics from his trip to Gray Nicolls earlier this week and this is the bat I choose.

Now I have been over the moon with my GM bats this year but there is something about Gray Nicolls that I always get drawn to having some of there kit and I felt my current GN classic Ultimate was getting lonely.
So this is 2.10 with 39mm edges, no concaving what so ever with a rounded face and a skinny oval handle.

The pick up first is excellent for a mid/low profile bat with no concaving what so ever it really does feel very light indeed, this will no doubt be aided by the addition of a 2nd grip and my only annoyance is how skinny GN handles have become so I’ll add a 2nd of change to a thick spiral grip.
Only tapped a ball up on it for now but performance is superb as I find to be honest with all GN bats Iv never had a bad one and always seem to play well form the get go. Middle also seem very long with good coverage from about 2inches from toe to just below the stickers.

Then there is what in my opinion is the miss grade in that this is the entry level English willow model, this has the edge tape applied and indeed still does all the way up the edges under that actual stickers. So I have used a craft knife and shaped away and around the stickers to remove the tape, it actually comes away really easily not the best quality edge tape thank goodness, given a light sand after removing the tape and applied scuff sheet with a little bat wax on the edges and back of the bat. Stunning grains with a tiny pin knot on the edge. Must say GN are one brand that can churn out some ugly looking bats in the players and LE range but this for me is as nice as most LE or players bats Iv seen of late so all in all another very happy purchase.

Thanks Chris,

Yes a very nice bat that was most likely down graded by the pin knot they tried to cover up . Excellent middle on this and some superb grains. Very good overall size for the bat as well.

Lovely full profile. Good looking blade - you and Six Sixes have done very well there. .

I am also a GN fan, always have been. but most of the GN bats I've picked up in the last couple of years have had very thin handles (presumably to save weight?, or perhaps reflecting their Indian origin?).

Enjoy,

David

Mid/low middle?

I'd class that as a higher middle personally, but maybe it's just the pictures?

Great stick mate. If it goes anything like my me then you’ve got a goodun.

Mine being a 606 Model (grade 3) I was a little unsure how it would go but can happily say it’s the best bet I’ve used since my rob pack custom purchased 2012

I agree in that pic it does look high, GN class it as a mid/low but personally always preferred a mid or mid/high middle as feel it aids pick up and I’m an opening bat so more bounce and new ball.

It looks Mid to me. Just the angle is making it look lower. Happens to my pics too.

Love the shape. Pretty good deal for that grade.
