The Times article is suggesting it will be a dream team of sacked hacks.
Smith (sacked from ESPN for plagiarism)
Selvey (Sacked from the guardian)
Pringle (sacked from the telegraph).

Grim reading.
On the upside Pringle and Selvey at least watch county cricket.

First order of the meeting, who got the best redundancy package?!

Buzz,

sorry if i have completely got this wrong but i thought the new selection panel was only 3 - including Baylis?

So what roles have both Pringle and Selvey got - wouldn't it be one or the other? plus Smith

Times saying Pringle and Selvey were interviewed for Smith's role but haven't got it - panel is Flower, Bayliss and Smith. Underwhelming!

Edit: seems different papers are calling out Flower/Smith for the same job as chairman, interesting. Make of that what you will.

@Buzz  - why were Selvey and Pringle sacked?

Pretty sure I have it wrong.
Smith has the job and Selves and Pringle made "presentations"

Sacked/made redundant/pensioned off, sure they are different but the outcome is the same...!

Andrew Strauss, Director of England Cricket, said: "We’re excited about the changes we’ve made to our talent identification and selection structure. It’s about us getting better quality information, and making sure our decision-making is as clear and robust as possible.

"Ed stood out as an ideal candidate for the role for a number of reasons. There is real depth to his talent identification knowledge and he’s done a great amount of research into the subject.

"He has a rich and varied sum of experiences having played professional cricket for 12 years and having written extensively on cricket and other sports. As well as this he has a strong academic interest in high performance and excellent knowledge of the international game.

"Ed will come to this role with fresh ideas and his input will help us implement a structure that we hope can become world-leading, not just in cricket but in sport generally."

"Written extensively...." well someone has, just not always Ed!

All excellent choices to be honest.
Two batsmen, two bowlers and two keepers. Across a spread of the country.
