£3 bat from the shop at the local tip
« on: July 04, 2018, 07:27:28 PM »

I get a few bats a year from the local tip. Various sizes, makes and states of repair. I saw this one and paid a measerly sum for it. I spliced in a missing piece at the toe, glued a bit of delamination, sanded it and rescuffed it. Sourced a new grey grip. These are the photos.
To be fair it fells quite good at actually taps up well.
Sorry photos not in chronological order but hopefully you get the gist.

Kept me out of trouble for a few hours and not bad for £6 all in.

Wish my local tip had cricket bats for sale!

Excellent bit of upcycling there.

There'd be more than a few less scrupulous people who'd put some new stickers on that and have it on eBay as an ex-pro's bat by now!

Will see if I can find the thread, someone once found a thoroughly repairable GM Trott edition in a tip.

EDIT - FOUND IT - http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=25680.msg402841#msg402841

What happened to it in the end, no idea how it played but it looked amazing.
