I managed to get hold of  GM Chrome 808 for next to nothing on eBay.

Advertised at 2'9 it arrived weighing just under 2'12. It had Average pick up and good rebound. I stripped the bat, removing the tape, two grips, stickers and gave it a good sand. This had been advertised as two years old, the player must have played a lot of cricket or scored very heavily because the middle was completely delaminated which explained all the tape. There were no cracks or holes to stick glue in, just a "bubble".

Decided to take a risk after conversations with @Seniorplayer, and @jamesisapayne , I cut through a few grains and inserted glue. Then taped and clamped to dry.

I've now added a new grip and face sheet and it currently weighs 2'82 and picks up very well. I'm struggling to finish my original plan of selling it once complete as I like it to much.

Haven't decided its fate yet. If I keep it I might add Ayrtek or BB stickers, or stick some Phantom stickers kindly donated to me before selling.

First attempt at refurbing a bat beyond a quick sand and replace a scuff sheet. One thing I would add that I've never read on here before, wet wipes are fantastic for cleaning up stickers and removing cherry's.

Dave that looks bloody fantastic well done. Did you use a syringe in the end?

Some lovely looking grains in that piece of willow, she's definitely a keeper mate ;)

You've done a great job on that one mate!

Was this the one that sold for about £40 posted?
Looks a to be a bargain now you've cleaned it up. Hope it serves you well.

I'm tempted to get myself another chrome, the 404 one I have pinged like a rocket straight out of the packet  :)

I tried but the glue wouldnt go through thr needle so i injected it with the plastic syringe snd sort of slid it in with some card and the stanley blade.

It is that one. Im really suprised how well it came out. All the gm talk made me curious, so its nice to waft one around. Its a good size for the weight as well. I dont have any experience with gm. This one really goes but its been well played in so id expect that. Wish id taken a picture with my stanley blade sticking out either side of a grain.

I have had a 808, nice stick but it was bit too heavy for me at 2.12. Anyhow, good refurb on this one....

Looking good that one.

Not surprised by the wet wipe thing - they remove pretty much anything.
