Fix for a sticky helmet
« on: November 05, 2018, 08:52:02 PM »

My puma lid is sticky on the outside - not aware I’ve ever dropped a can of coke or anything similar on it. Any idea what I could use to clean it off??

I think it’s the finish on them, was it like a rubberised finish from memory?

Yes, slightly rubberised - all sorts of fluff sticks to it, doesn’t look great

I had similar issue and gave the helmet a clean with WD40. Could not save the rubberised coating but there were no other visible problems. Whether WD40 weakened the shell is something I wouldn't know.

Have you tried using a wet-wipe on your helmet - moving from the centre, outwards with a smooth repetitive motion?

That's the other thing I was worried about - would chemicals damage it and mean if I ever did get cracked on the helmet it wouldn't do the job???

Cleaned mine with lukewarm water.
Not advisable to use chemicals
