Oooo My sweat and it Stinks !!!! Shrey Air Titanium
« on: December 29, 2018, 12:21:39 PM »

Hi Lads
I used to have Masuri elite titanium helmet. It was in blue but when i moved to AU, helmet color restrictions made me buy new helmet in green so this time i went with Shrey Air titanium.
The move i am/was happy with. No matter if i wear it for an hour or 2 hours or more (yet to bat that long though ;), i never feel it.
But as soon as the summer has it in its full swing, that brought too much sweat. With my masuri i never had issues of stinky helmet, no matter how much i sweat (i reckon it was its dual shell design that allowed more ventilation) but my shrey tends to stink pretty bad, and i dry it in sun after use.
Any suggestions on that part or anything that could help reduce this.

Febreze it or buy another helmet which doesnt have as much material lining on the inside maybe?

Can you also buy extra padding so you can swap them out on a regular basis?

Ive never had this issue with a batting helmet (always had Masuri) but the last couple of years I've started to wear a helmet to keep in. I got the Shrey keeping helmet and by the later half of last season it was starting to smell to the point of everyone else noticing it. We have three spinners and a slowish seamer so I would usually spend about 35-40 overs with it on each week so its had a lot of use (certainly more so than the average batting helmet, and a hell of a lot more than my batting helmet!!!!)
I've febreezed it, washed the inside three times with a napisan solution and it still stank. I got to the point of emailing Shrey and asking if they had any ways of dealing with it (to no avail). In the end I had to throw it out (the Mrs made me) and buy a new one. Ive gone with the Masuri Keeping lid this time so with a bit of luck they are better at dealing with odours.
I was tempted to buy some replacement inner padding and chin strap attachment from the start and as liscon suggested swap them and wash them on a regular basis.

What competition in Australia restricts what colour helmet you wear ? I have never come across this unless it’s representative or state teams

SACA district cricket mate, they impose helmet color restrictions. Each club in comp has their own color.

I play in the uae where temperatures always in mid to high 40s during the day all year except for dec, jan, feb. Even in those 3 months it gets pretty hot during the day. I used shrey masterclass air titanium for about 8 months here and sweat in it alot but never had much problem with odor. I just keep it outside to dry for a few mins after batting before keeping it back in the kit. Sometimes if theres not enough time i just leave it out to dry in the balcony overnight. Also wash the swappa band once a month. Now i use a masuri VS test titanium and do the same thing and havent noticed anything different

Well colour is more important than safety after all🤔

Well tbh i dont see how enforcing one color for a team compromises safety?

Change teams means change of helmet? Who cares what colour it is it is about safety. I’ll mind my own business now
