@Ayrtek Cricket

Back when Newbery made proper, traditional bats. Love it!

Sadly I remember 2010 well as it was my best ever year with over 600 league runs and still the last two centuries I scored :(. Still hoping I didn't peak at 23! Much better kit now but fewer runs...

Bat: GM Icon Original
Pads: GM RSB (The ravi bopara/slightly Morrant style ones with only two straps - interestingly the first stage of a quest I'm still on to find pads that properly fit my stumpy legs!)
Gloves: Bradbury I think
Helmet: A horrible GM blue plastic one - probably still in my basement somewhere!
Bag: Slazenger - red and white wheelie - eventually got rid of because it wasn't long enough to fit bats in the main section - a characteristic I still hate today

Those GM RSB pads were the best. I've spent much of the last 10 years trying to find replacements

SM Swagger from OLS if anyone is interested!!!

They’re still in my basement if you want me to dig them out - sure they aren’t beyond use for a refurb guru like yourself. Plus I don’t think I’ve ever used a piece of cricket kit until it’s actually worn out...

Ten years ago, hmm

Think my laver had just died due to a cheap ball at Lynton/lynmouth cc
So I think I had an M&h solution, that snapped in half, as did the one I bought for my son at the same time, hence my hate,(strong word, but shocking aftersales) for their bats and service

But,,,, it did lead me to the forum in my search for something decent

What am I using this year? Dunno, not got round to making it yet

Gloves, will only use top end Slazenger
Boots ,,, love love love my Adidas boosts,(I couldn’t play without them)
Pads, don’t even know what I wear, I think they are keepers pads,( ten years ago would have been gn pads for sure)
I’m quite sure my box is at least ten years old!
Don’t wear helmet/extra padding etc so there’s no difference now to ten years ago

A Bradbury with a crack in it, there's a surprise!!

Saw loads of them in league cricket around Somerset and they were great bats but seemed very brittle and lots cracked during play.
Ha yeah, I remember first net session I took it to one of the older guys at my club saying something along the lines of 'lovely bat, won't last you long though'. Well deserved reputation, saw loads of really really nice Bradburys around that time but never saw one last more than two seasons before ending up in two pieces!

I can only go on what I've seen myself but they used to split a lot around the thin shoulders IIRC.

They used to have lovely shapes and classy stickers - always wanted to get one but they were a bit too expensive for me.

Most of the breakages I saw were catastrophic, that was the thing that really stood out. That sums them up well to be fair, really classy. Still the most I've ever spent on a bat actually.

A bat made out of poplar tree.

Now, tell us - was that English, Kashmiri or Serbian Poplar?  How was the ping?  Did the grains go straight through the toe?  :)
