Rehandle (by choice)
« on: January 28, 2020, 08:10:38 AM »

Hey guys

I have a CBF dilemma. I am thinking of getting my new keeley rehandled. Obviously there is nothing wrong with the handle (it is not broken) I am (like most) not a great fan of the thinner handles he tends to put on bats. I have of course used zinc oxide tape to build the handle up and is feeling good.

I was wondering if I were to get the handle changed would this effect the bats performance, pickup etc obviously I shall have a nicer handle (especially from the source I am getting it from) but what I don’t want to do is get the handle right and the blade suffer. Is this a thing? Has anyone had any experience of doing this? And what were the results?
I have had one re handle in my time but that was due to Necessity as the handle had snapped

Many thanks

If done well it shouldn't be a problem, but I'd just move the bat on personally rather than throwing extra money at it when there's no guarantee you'll like it with a different handle - it will change the balance at least a little.

Difficult one, I think if you do get it rehandled it wouldn't change too much but it is a risk you take throwing more money at a bat you're not sold on

I would go with the tape/second grip option in the first instance. I think, unless you take the bat back to Tim to do it might not be the same.

Read in one of the threads about this,
You'll have to knock in your bat again,
My view is that there is a good reason when bat maker use specific type of handles, especially tk,

Good idea would be to use it thinking it's exactly you want this bat to be in nets etc and then if you feel it's not right then sell it, this is how I would do it.
