Was this right?
« on: August 14, 2008, 03:09:42 PM »

I was playing in a game the other day and the batsman top edged a pull straight up into the air. The ball stayed in the air long enough for the other batsman to run to the strikers end and in running his bat in destroy the stumps (maybe deliberatly)!
The ball then fell down and narrowly missed the stumps (Only because they were destroyed) of course the batsmen couldnt be given out but i believe this was very unsporting!!!!
What do you guys think? Also if the ball had hit the stumps he would have been out would he not?

Before I answer this question, and noting that I believe anything is possible on a cricket field, I would like to know what the keeper was doing given that the non stiker could run the length of the pitch and mange to take a set of stumps out as well.

The keeper could do nothing as the ball was still in the air. He nearly got hit when the stumps were destroyed

Im guessing the guy swung at the stumps? Hey skip what grade do you play (no relevance but if its senior cricket this shouldnt be happening) Also doesnt this fall under 'obstructing the field' or 'dislodging the bail'
