The shoe manufacturers all moved away from really high cut boots a few years ago after research suggested locking the ankle in place did more harm than good.
Funny thing is, I've argued this case (without any proof) with the mrs based on what I've gone through and feel and I agree on high cut boots do more harm than good.
I've got flat feet, had a few ankle injuries and in my opinion the mids are fine. Not too high and the strap gives support without restricting.
If you don't trust mids, then puma and a few others have the strap.
