Fantasy Kitbag
« on: May 27, 2020, 04:55:06 PM »

In the absence of cricket I've spent far too much time thinking about how I would construct my match kitbag if I started from scratch now and money was no object (there could be sub versions of this thread with budgets - but that's a bit too much research even for me!).

So in an effort to get back to some fun on here after the last couple of days threads - what would your kitbag have in it for 2020 if you could have anything - all 2020 off the shelf items, no customs. Bag, Bat (1 only!), Gloves, Pads, Helmet, Thigh Pad, Shoes. You can choose whether to go FKW but I've just picked my favourite of each item regardless of whether I'd actually wear them together!

Mine is:

Bag: Gray Nicolls GN500 Duffle (Strange pricepoint I know, but it's medium sized so fits in the car, separate pad pockets, separate helmet and shoe pockets - looks perfect for what I need)
Bat: Salix AJK Finite (always wanted to try a Salix and this years stickers are so cool)
Gloves: Adidas Incurza 1.0 (love the colour way and they look super light and comfortable)
Pads: Adidas Incurza 1.0 (same)
Helmet: Masuri T Line Titanium
Thigh Pad: New Stretton Fox mouldable ones
Shoes: New Balance CK10 (new blue ones)

If I decided to go FKW I would seriously consider the Salix AJK pads and gloves, or might switch to a Blank Bats B4 with matching softs.

i dont think it would actually be too far off what i currently have

mongoose medium bag because its bright orange. alternatively i currently have 2 england duffle bag in the parents spare room.
bat H4l devil beautiful bat but would probably change for h4l 50/50 because of the colour scheme
softs gray nics xp1000 test softs. think they are velocity its bright green. would swap for h4l 50/50 so it all matches
helmet ive got a masuri worcestershire rapids bright blue one or a ayrtek in perth scorchers orange. maybe upgrade to top of the range models .
thigh pads i have affinity moonwalkr wouldnt swap these
boots puma evospeed or adidas 22 yds

Personally mine would stay the same in terms of brand but would like a few upgrades

Bat - GM Vince players edition just the best shape, performance and handle size and set up.
Pads - GM OLE small men’s ( currently use 909)
Gloves - GM OLE small men’s (currently have three pairs all from the 2017/18 range)

Bag now I would love to find a duffle with a bat section that doesn’t curl up the scuff sheet at the toe like all mine seem to do so I have to have tape across the toe which I don’t really like but I prefer this to a scuff sheet hanging off. The Phantom anniversary bag looks perfect in purple but I need GM to make one.

Lid - Masuri steel with my club badge which I’m just got
Shoes - NB CK10 but Iv just got new payntr that were a bargain price as £100 on spikes is to rich for me.

WK gloves - Newbery SPS just think they look so classy with matching Newbery pads

To be honest the top SS, SG/big 3 etc kit is so good it is hard to choose. It comes down to who makes your bat and whether you want to be FKW or not.

Or in my case. Choose the firm who's thigh pads you like, see if you like their top of the range pads and gloves then scrounge around until you find a top bat.
