Looking for a Leicester-ish based club
« on: August 23, 2020, 10:19:06 AM »

Hi All,
I moved from Sussex to Leicester about 5 years ago, and since moving I’ve not played any cricket bar an occasional Sunday friendly when visiting friends & family in Sussex. I moved for work and my role was prohibitive of playing long games at the weekend or t20s in the evenings. However my role has recently changed and I know feel like I have enough time to play most weekends.

So I’m looking for a club near Leicester city, preferably one that has a few league sides (I used to play in West Sussex Div 5) so I can find the right sort of standard and that has a Sunday friendly team as some weekends I won’t be able to commit to playing on a Saturday.

Any help or recommendations of clubs to reach out to would be much appreciated.

Hi,

There are a few decent options around. I would recommend my club, Leicester Ivanhoe CC, who play at Leicester Forest East (on the A47), at the western edge of Leicester. In a typical (non-Covid) season they run four senior league teams, on the two pitches at their ground.

I think their teams play in Premier, 1st, 4th and 7th divisions of the Leicestershire league.

I played there as a young player and have recently returned after many years away from the area and the game. Lots of banter, good net facilities (not that I tend to use them, these days). You would be ade very welcome.

Feel free to PM me if you want any more info/ contact details etc.

Good luck,

David
