Damage from Bat Knocking In Machine
« on: September 18, 2020, 06:52:21 AM »

Had a bat knocked in on a machine and I've received it with some extensive "minor" cracking on the face.

The retailer tells me this is a common occurrence (1 in 30 bats) and it can't be considered faulty if this occurs during knocking in process

This happened to anyone or got any feedback?

Thanks in advance

Depends what you mean by minor cracking. Photos might be helpful if you can manage it. If it's just small cracks on the face of the bat then it's nothing to worry about.

You have every right to be annoyed, I would be furious if a bat I had had knocked in came back looking like that.
I appreciate that willow is a natural product, but this bat looks as if it has been slightly under pressed so needs very careful knocking in, which this machine really hasn't done.

What bat is it? And who did the knocking in?

In my opinion some of those with a machine know what they are doing and others definitely don't.

Did they use an automated lump hammer?

Agreed, it’s one thing to offer knocking in on a machine, but another just to stick a bat on there and not care what happens to it. I’d be after my money back for the bat if I were you. Presuming it was knocked the same place you bought it.

Looks like it's taken a hell of a beating up and around the splice too

that's blind knocking  :o
Specially soft pressed bats one have to be more careful
Better to knock less than be in that state and why will you knock all the way up
Not a good job of knocking at all

That's very poor, knocking all over the splice too by the looks of it.

Ask for your money back and don't use whoever the retailer is again.

It's pretty poor form to say that's not a damaged bat. What's worse is they seem to openly admit they ruin several bats by knocking them in.

I think you should name and shame them so we can get the pitchforks out!

Absolute rubbish - can't believe a reputable company would do that
