Bess Speaks Out...

Sir Dom Bess was thoroughly underchuffed at his treatment during the winter. I’m glad he spoke to the management about it, and had the confidence to speak about it in the media.

Not sure he should have stayed in the side though - you can’t make a career out of getting wickets via long hop filth.

You might be right, Mo has been the one they wanted in with Leach from the day Giles went round to Mo's house to ask him to reconsider his break from test cricket.

It does remain to me the worst handled player situation in my memory, what they thought they were doing with Bess God only knows in the middle of a series on spinning tracks.

Whether Bess is good enough or not I actually think is completely irrelevant.

Someone somewhere should of grabbed this situation early and said hang on this is not how we deal with players.

And it was Ed Smith who said to Malan after a decent tour of Oz he is a back foot player with limited use in other conditions.

If it wasnt t affecting players careers it would be comical.

Ed Genius Smith has this troubling habit of believing all players to be expendable and will happily cast them aside on a whim, without any thought to how it affects their mindset. The sooner he leaves the England set-up the better. Andrew Symonds was right to chin the arrogant ****.

ECB and Ed Smith strike again.. they really really are a shambles

Kudos to Bess for speaking out rather than hiding behind the PR machine.

Has he really ‘spoken out’. Doesn’t seem to have said much from the quotes in that article.

He's said as much as he possibly could without it having an adverse affect on his international prospects.

He may not be good enough, then again he may be...with work on strengthening his action he can get better

He's only 23 or 24, the problem may actually be the England environment now may not be the one he needs.

Lost a bit of faith in the current set up to be honest..and I can't be alone.

Umm, at what point did you 'have faith' in this set up?   I've not had any faith it in since 2014.. it's been one disaster after another if we're honest.

Generally I think nowadays with selection and picking out players and giving them a run its much better than it was, back in the day players must have thought one bad game and they are out.

Last couple of years I'm beggining to doubt we have the right people at the very top, not Root as there is only so much he can do. Even with the Moeen Ali misunderstanding about 'choosing to leave the tour' I think that is more of a management issue than Roots.

Perhaps some of my faith has been mis placed I will certainly admit that.

The Bess and Ali situation on the India tour I thought was appalling mis management of players on a very important tour.

I don't blame Root for that but on top level management, Root has his hands full on the pitch
